At the Viking Village, we have a truly special smoke sauna!
The smoke sauna building was constructed on the site of an old sauna and comes with a powerful legend. The sauna is located about 100 meters from the main Viking house, right on the banks of the Pirita River. It’s tucked away privately in the forest, offering your group a peaceful escape to enjoy both nature and sauna pleasures.
The lower floor of the sauna house features a spacious lounge with a large table that seats 14–15 people. The smoke sauna bench accommodates up to 10 people at once, and of course, traditional whisking is welcome here.
The sauna includes a proper shower room with two showers, and for a refreshing dip, you can head down a sturdy staircase to the Pirita River.
No need to worry about getting dirty from soot—we always clean the bench after heating and cover it with clean sheets for your comfort.
If your sauna evening stretches late, there’s no need to head home—on the second floor of the smoke sauna house, there are sleeping places for up to 11 people. It’s a cozy way to spend the night and start your next day refreshed.
You can also rent a hot tub located on the terrace for an additional fee. (Some mistakenly call it a barrel sauna.) We’ll heat it to a perfect 38–40°C at your requested time, and from there, you can maintain the temperature yourself.
Next to the sauna is a covered outdoor area—perfect for chatting and enjoying drinks in the fresh air instead of sitting inside. Guests can also use the grill or order food directly from the Viking Village tavern.

What makes our smoke sauna so special?
The steam room is equipped with a special Saunum stove featuring a patented air circulation system and Himalayan salt balls. This ensures a uniquely soft, balanced temperature with ionized air that benefits your breathing and skin.
We also offer a special sauna ritual with a sauna master who introduces ancient traditions—complete with rune songs and a shaman drum.

Our heater stones include jadeite, one of the most prized sauna stones worldwide, known in folk wisdom for enhancing life energy, balancing one’s energy field, and calming the spirit.
The smoke sauna features an external heating system, which improves air quality in the steam room.
The sauna construction uses rare materials, including 300-million-year-old wood and Viking symbols—you’ll need to see and feel it yourself!
The Viking Village saunas are members of the Sauna Route (Saunatee), an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Estonia’s sauna culture for future generations.
Our smoke sauna is a living example of centuries-old traditions. Like the Võru smoke sauna customs, it has earned a spot on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

NB! Mis teeb meie Suitsusauna eriliseks?
- Leiliruumis on lisaks paigaldatud Saunumi spetsiaalne keris, millel on patenteeritud õhuringlussüsteem, mis on omakorda varustatud Himaalaja soolast valmistatud pallidega. Selle tulemusena on võimalik saada suitsusaunas eriliselt pehme ja ühtlane temperatuur koos hästi ioniseeritud õhuga, mis on kasulikud Sinu hingamisteedele ja nahale.
- Meie elamussaunas on võimalik korraldada eraldi saunarituaal, kus tutvustatakse erinevaid saunakombeid ja saunakultuuri, telli endale saunameister, koos regilaulu ja šamaani trummiga. Vaata vahvat videot
- Oleme kasutanud oma kerisekivides ühte hinnatumat kerise kivi Jadeiiti, mille kohta võib öelda, et vanarahvatarkuses on see üle maailma väga, väga hinnatud ja lugupeetud kivim. Jadeiiti seostatakse negatiivsete õhuioonidega, elujõudu suurendavaks, stabiliseerivaks, tervendavaks kivimiks, mis toob inimese energiavälja tasakaalu ja rahustab hinge.
- Oleme kasutanud oma suitsusauna saunaehitusel väljast kütmise süsteemi, mis parandab leiliruumis õhu kvaliteeti.
- Saunaehitusel on kasutatud väga erilisi materjale nagu -300 mlj. aastat vana puitu, erilisi viikingite sümboleid ja muud põnevat, mida peaksid kindlasti oma silmaga nägema ja tunnetama.
Viikingite küla saunad kuuluvad MTÜ Saunatee liitu.
Saunatee missiooniks on Eesti saunakultuuri edendamine ja hoidmine nii, et ka meie järeltulevad põlved oskaksid hinnata sauna ja väärtustada saunatavasid. Saunatee annab võimaluse tutvustada eestlastele omast saunakultuuri, aga pakub ka uusi ja erilisi elamusi.
Suitsusaun on ehe näide meie sajandite pikkusest saunatraditsioonist ning annab saunalistele võimaluse nautida saunarõõme nii, nagu seda tegid meie esivanemad ja Võrumaa saunakombestiku näitel on see lisatud UNESCO maailmapärandi nimekirja.
